Police Investigate Officer Involved Car Crash

Idaho State Police are looking into a crash involving a Gem County Sheriff's patrol car and a white Ford Focus. Investigators say the crash happened early Thursday morning at the intersection of Highway 16 and 52 near Washington Street in Emmett.

ISP Investigators right now aren't sure how the crash happened but tell Today's Channel 6 News the Deputy was responding to a suicide call when the crash happened. Officer's say the Deputy was driving through the intersection when he plowed into the driver of the white Ford Focus.

Witnesses near the scene tell Today's 6 what they saw moments after the crash. "The door had been smashed in from the crash and they were prying it off because apparently they couldn't get her out of the driver side", said Mike Martin.

Police say the driver was taken to the hospital and has a head injury but is expected to be okay. Right now they say the crash is still under investigation and don't believe that either of the drivers were drinking and driving.
