Google privacy policy changes raising eyebrows
Changes are afoot at Google and the sweeping changes to its privacy policy have people demanding answers. Now, even lawmakers are calling on the search giant to do some explaining.
The changes will effect much more than just the company's search engine. People who use Gmail, Google Plus, youtube and more will all feel the effects of the change.
Google is getting rid of around 60 different privacy policies and replacing them all with just one. The company says the changes will make it easier to sync up its various products. Using that information to customize search results and target ads to users preferences.
The move does have some questioning the safety of their personal information. For instance, users can't opt out of the new privacy policy without closing their accounts altogether.
A group of lawmakers have also jumped into the mix, sending a letter to Google's CEO looking for a complete explanation of the changes. Particularly a guarantee that private information will stay that way.
